Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Atiku Abubakar, has revealed that former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, remained undeterred following a failed attempt by security operatives to detain him at the airport on Thursday.
Atiku, in a statement shared on his Facebook account on Friday, confirmed that he visited El-Rufai and noted that the former governor was “unfazed” by the incident.
He further stated that El-Rufai, also a leading member of the ADC, continues to uphold his commitment to advancing the ideals of a better Nigeria.
“Last night, I paid a solidarity visit to the former Governor of Kaduna State and stalwart of the African Democratic Congress, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, following the failed attempt to arrest him at the airport upon his arrival in the country. He was unfazed by the incident and remains committed to the battle to enthrone a better Nigeria,” Atiku wrote in a personally signed statement.
MaaziTV recalls that drama unfolded at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Thursday when security agents attempted to detain El-Rufai without presenting any official warrant.
El-Rufai, however, resisted the move, insisting that he would not comply with an arrest in the absence of a formal letter of invitation or valid warrant.
