The Imo State ADC Directorate for Support Groups, Diaspora Affairs, Civil Society Organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations under the able leadership of the Director-General, Comr. (Dr.) Bryan Diamond Agu, has commended the Imo State Government led by Senator Hope Uzodimma for conferring the Imo State @50 Star Honours on His Excellency Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha (KSM), Omenkahuruanya 1, alongside other distinguished sons and daughters of the state.
The Directorate described the initiative as a demonstration of political maturity, respect for institutional memory, and a commitment to merit above partisan considerations.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, 10th February 2026, in Owerri to mark Imo State’s Golden Jubilee, Agu particularly applauded the conferment of the Grand Service Star of Imo State on Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, describing the honour as a triumph of performance over politics and an affirmation that credible governance leaves measurable footprints regardless of tenure length.
According to the Director-General, who is also a seasoned media consultant and former State Publicity Secretary of the party, Ndi-Imo must appreciate the remarkable strides recorded during Ihedioha’s administration despite its brief tenure. Within seven months in office, the administration recruited over 4,000 teachers, rehabilitated and constructed more than 380 kilometres of roads, introduced farm clusters to boost agricultural productivity, and strengthened healthcare delivery across the state’s 305 wards.
Beyond service delivery, Agu noted that the Ihedioha administration implemented notable fiscal reforms, with Internally Generated Revenue increasing from about ₦250 million to over ₦850 million monthly.
Transparency and accountability were reinforced through the implementation of the Treasury Single Account, while prudent financial management restored public confidence during his administration.
He further recalled that under Ihedioha’s leadership, Imo State gained national recognition as one of Nigeria’s least corrupt states at the time, as enhanced transparency, strict adherence to due process, and the creation of a more business-friendly environment repositioned the state as a credible investment destination.
The Directorate also acknowledged other eminent honourees, including the late Dr. Samuel Onunaka Mbakwe of blessed memory, Chief Achike Udenwa, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, Senator Rochas Okorocha, and the late Mrs. Flora Nwapa, among others.
Agu praised the inclusive nature of the honours list, while commending the lmo state Governor His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodinma for his unbiased consideration regardless of the political inclination of the recipients, thereby affirming governance as a continum without discrimination.
The Director-General commended former Governor Chief Achike Udenwa for presiding over a period of relative stability characterised by strengthened civil service administration, infrastructural expansion, and fiscal discipline, which helped consolidate democratic governance during a critical post-military transition era.
He also noted that the posthumous recognition of the late Chief Sam Onunaka Mbakwe, Imo State’s first civilian governor, reflects a conscious effort to situate contemporary leadership within its proper historical context. Agu recalled Mbakwe’s enduring legacies in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and industrial development, which laid the foundation for modern governance in the old lmo state.
In conclusion, the Director- General described the recognition of former governors ,RT. Hon Emeka Ihedioha and Chief Achike Udenwa as well deserved honours and a testament of their resilience ,dedication ,service to Imo State,God and humanity.
It stated that the Imo @50 Star Honours will be remembered as a defining moment when merit prevailed over political bias.
The Directorate further affirmed that clinically speaking , a political postmortem has revealed that Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha (Omenkahuruanya 1) remains a Rock of Gibraltar , who is determined and ever ready to triple his achievements and transform the state in all frontiers in the next political dispensation as the next Governor of lmo state .
